Four (or five) cardinal signs indicate inflammation. What specific sign of inflammation is the result of exudate in the tissue spaces?

Signs and pathways of the inflammatory process. The initial stimulus is a tissue injury. It initiates a release of two types of molecules: inflammatory chemicals and leukocytosis-inducing factor. Inflammatory chemicals cause a dilation of arterioles, increased capillary permeability, and attraction of neutrophils, monocytes, and lymphocytes to the area. Local hyperemia causes signs of inflammation: heat and redness. Capillaries leak fluid that brings protein-rich fluid into tissue spaces causing signs of inflammation: pain and swelling. Also, this fluid helps in clotting. The leukocytosis-inducing factor increases the number of white cells in the bloodstream that migrate to the injured area. There margination and diapedesis occur. Then white cells start phagocytosis of pathogens and dead tissue clots. This all leads to healing.
